C Drive Failure/Faulty Drives
Hi All,
This evening my NV+ stopped working which was noted by the TV saying "no contect".
Upon investigation, i identified that the NV+ had locked up in that it was still on, powered and showing "normal" info in the screen, but it would not respond to a depress on the on/off button, so I ultimately had to kill the power.
On boot up it said "failure on Disk 4" and would not shut off via the on/off button.
I killed the power and pulled all the drives before booting the nAS NV+ again.
THis would nto boot.
So i switched it off, and did the following:
a) inserted drive 1, repowered unit - got "faulty drive", powered down
b) inserted drive 2 (removed drive 1), powered unit - got "Faulty Drive", powered down
c) removed 1 & 2, inserted 3, powered unit, this time it booted, but said 1/1GB agavilable, powered down
d) i kept 3 in place and inserted 4 - powered unit, but said 1/1GB agavilable,powered down
e) inserted 2, 3 & 4 - powered unit, but said 1/1GB agavilable,powered down
f) inserted all 4 drives - received C drive failure & bad disk
Any advice?
I am on the most up to date firmware for the unit (4.1.16).
can i get it back up and running again - if not how is best to extract the data?

Try testing the drives in a Windows PC with vendor tools (Seatools for Seagate; Lifeguard for Western Digital).
You can connect the drives with with SATA or with a USB adapter/dock.
If you actually have 2 failed drives (which is certainly possible), then data recovery will not be easy. There are companies that specialize in it, but it will be expensive.
- Thanks I’ll give it a try-can you suggest a usb version
