Cannot connect to Frontview

Hi all,

The last days I cannot connect to frontview anymore. Whenever I go to http://192.168.2.147/admin (this is the correct IP address btw) I get the error "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". After a bootup or even a soft reset this problem still exists. The NAS replies to ping, the file shares are available in Windows and I can connect to the torrent application. It seems only frontview does not work anymore.

Anyone has any idea what I should try next?

Cheers, Leo

  • Mine seems to have been solved by reinstalling the OS. At least it's been accessible for 48 hours now...

I've turned off the Bittorrent service (I think I know who turned it on in the first place and I'll be giving him a one-on-one "talking to" tomorrow morning about that and other issues when I visit the site to show the flag) and turned on SSH. Fingers crossed it doesn't recur. I still want to know what caused it even if it's purely so we assign the job to maintenance (comes out of the monthly contract) or emergency (we get to bill them).

Now I've got to make sure we have a back door to all the other ReadyNAS units we manage...

Thank you to all and good luck getting yours fixed,

    Laurie
  • In fairness mine could go 3 or 4 days without failing to restart anyway.

I rebooted mine a few days ago and will keep an eye on it
  • Well my issue is still there and Netgear support have no idea what is causing this.
  • If you have SSH access to your ReadyNAS you can issue the following command and check what error is reported either in the direct output or by entries in /var/log/frontview/error.log
    apache-ssl -f /etc/frontview/apache/httpd.conf -k restart

  • I have already checked the error_log previously and no useful error messages.

I was debating changing the logging mode in httpd.conf to debug, I guess this would give more detail and once I have tried a restart, set it back to default.
  • Hi,

I note this long discussion didn't result in a successful resolution.

Has anyone solved this problem? I am still experiencing it with firmware 4.1.9.

Does a Factory Reset resolve the problem of Frontview crashing?

    Thanks

You should start your own thread, and describe your setup and problem with some more details.

Factory reset completely rebuilds the duo, losing your configuration, add-ons, and all your data.
