Can't Access Boot Menu (Bootloader)
I have read the instructions to access the Boot Menu. I power down the unit. I press and hold the reset button on the back. I power on the Readt Nas Duo. The instructions say that the Power, Backup, USB and Disk 1 & 2 LED's should all become lit. But that does not happen. I see the Power Button LED flashing, the Disk 1&2 lights go on and off three times and then Disk 2 light comes on. But I can't change anything with the backup button. Does anyone know why ?

- eantonoffAspirantThis does not answer my problem. To restate the problem ------ I am following the directions to access the Boot Menu. It says that all of the lights should be lit before you release the Reset Button. Well that's the problem I'm not seeing all of the LED's illuminating. So therefore I never get to the Boot Menu.
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredSo after reading the article I linked to you are still convinced that you have a Duo v2 not a Duo (v1)?
- eantonoffAspirantNo I know that I have a Duo (v1) ...Does that mean the access to the Boot Menu is different ? I'll look at it again ....
- eantonoffAspirantI don't see where in this article my question is answered. It is a good article to tell the difference between the v1 and v2 devices, but I don't see where it is helping me understand why I can't get into the Boot Menu. To give some more information this all came about because Raidar says that my disk is Corrupt. That's because this disk was previously formatted with NTFS, but never used. So I want to use it now in this NAS device and all the documentation I could find said to enter the Boot Menu and do a OS REINSTALL which will reinitialize the disk.
- chirpaLuminaryThe boot menu is completely different on the v1; http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/how ... v_nv_x6600
- eantonoffAspirantThanks for your help. That makes more sense. Now only to get the Hard Disk reinitialized.
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredIs this the only disk in the Duo? If so, do a factory default (wipes all data, settings, everything).
If there are two disks installed, remove the new disk, boot the NAS, verify that you can access your data then hot-add (add while NAS is on) the new disk.
