Can't Mount SMB/CIFS Shares in OS X Sierra Public Beta 4

You must mean 4.2.28
It does work with win7 and win10, so I suspect you are right in thinking it is a Sierra issue.
It could well be a bug with Sierra.
Once Sierra is released (I guess probably sometime within the next couple of months) if the issue is still there one would then need to see if there are any workarounds.Should it be much faster to browse in Windows? As I'm using Parallels i'm quite surprised how much faster it seems.
Well the SMB service is primarily designed for working with Windows.
There have been some improvements in Mac compatibility over time and there is a backend setting change that can be made to speed up directory listing on Mac.
Posted in the Apple developer forum and put in a bug report. That said, some other devlopers say SMB and NAS units are working for them but none are Netgear. I have a ReadyNAS Ultra 6 and I've tried a few tricks like turning off client negotiation on the Mac but still can't access any shares.
