Can't re-insert drive in NV+

The title says it all. Somehow when re-inserting a drive, the gray pull-bar with the black unlatch button closed and locked before the drive was fully inserted. I cannot finish insertion because the latch is locked, and I can't re-extract the drive, it seems locked in despite not being fully inserted.

Have a good laugh (duh) and then please tell me what to do. Thank you.

This is the disk tray with the round release button?
