Can't transfer files to NAS through new modem/router
Hi guys. hoping someone may be able to assist here. Have recently moved house and bought a new modem router, Netgear D6300 but since moving into the new place have been able to see my ReadyNAs Ultra 2 Plus but cannot for the life of me see anyway to transfer files to it. It allows me to grab files off of it but not save what I want onto it. Getting very frustrating! Use to have my whole house wired up with Cat 6 cabling with the NAS unit connected to a port on it but in the new place have the NAS still connected and being shown as an attached device on Netgear Genie but now running everything via Wi-Fi. Thinking this may have something to do with it? Really, really stuck as I'm getting nowhere by myself and was hoping someone here may be able to help. Have team-viewer installed from last time I had an issue and had great help when I initially set it up and hoping someone may be able to have a look if they have the time? Cheers in advance.

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserWhen you log into frontview, are you seeing a normal volume status?
Are you accessing the NAS with Windows file sharing or using the web interface? - mfawcett77AspirantSorry, bit dumb when it comes to the whole Windows File sharing or Web interface accessing? Sort of understand what you are saying but not 100% sure. Managed to get it up last night after playing around some into my home network but then I stupidly decided to remove the NAS drive and modem/router from it's location and hardwire everything up including the PC and when I went to switch it all on again lost the NAs from my Home network!!! I can see what I need to do I'm sure, just don't know how to work around it. And yes, on the frontview it is coming up as normal volume status.
- mfawcett77AspirantPretty sure it has got something to do with the Network settings? Possibly Global settings or Interfaces? Does the WINS or DHCP come into play with the settings at all?
- xeltrosApprenticeI don't have an idea for your problem but I can provide some insight for network technologies.
DHCP is here only to give the IP address, if you can ping then it's OK. My network is split into two sections, one has DHCP, the other hasn't and everything is OK.
WINS is a kind of DNS server for Netbios names. I don't believe you have WINS server on a home network. However netbios names can be transferred by broadcast, if you are in the Apple world then bonjour uses broadcast too. Depending on how they are configured, routers can block broadcasts. That's their default behaviour when relaying packets through different subnet (Home => internet for exemple). However I believe most consumer's routers are set to act as switch by default on the same network, so this shouldn't be an issue.
Problem is if you can access the service in read, I don't see why you can't write on it, networkly speaking. I would check the rights on the shares (both share rights and system rights). You can also try to get back to the old configuration and see if it's working, maybe it was a change pending that was activated by the reboot. - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserThe first thing to try is to enter \\NASNAME\SHARENAME into the Windows Explorer ("Computer") address bar. Note this is NOT internet explorer, and the direction of the slash does matter.
NASNAME is of course the name of the NAS that you assigned during setup. SHARENAME is the name of one of your shared folders.
If you get a password prompt, use "admin" as the user name, and the NAS admin password. - mfawcett77Aspirant

Don't know if this info makes any difference but it comes up under Media Device as well as Storage. It use to come up under Computer but no longer does so. Something has definitely changed since changing modem/routers or going to Wi-Fi, which I don't believe is the issue as I can still see it under the other categories and can still run files off of it to my PS3 and Western Digital Media Player through the same modem/router. Getting very annoying and frustrating now and I'm sure it will be something very simple:) - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserDid you try \\nasname\sharename in the windows explorer address bar?
- mfawcett77Aspirantquick thanks to all who were helping me out, but I got back from my 4 days away at work and came back to the NAS unit showing up on my network:) Don't know how or why but not complaining. Just going very slow on the transfer rates now over Wi-Fi!!! Running a Netgear D6300 in 2.4g mode as 5g is not possible on my current computer. Only getting about 2.5mb per second.
- xeltrosApprentice2.5Mbit or MBytes ?
If that's 2.5Mbytes that coherent with wifi G.
If that 2.5Mbit, you should check the signal strength.
What if you use a direct cable ? (preferably on a gigabit router)
