Changing from X-RAID to FLEX-RAID
I bougth a Readynas duo with a 1TB drive. I now bought a second 1TB drive and would like to install it and obtain 2TB capacity. I dont understand how to change the RAID settings of the unit. I have RAIDiator version 4.1.4.
Anyone has any idea?

- HagerAspirantYou'll have to do factory reset. Which will delete all you're current data and settings on the Duo and during a 10 minute window after you perform the factory reset you can use RAIDar to select Flex-RAID and RAID 0. So you'll probably want to backup your data before you do a factory reset or you'll lose your data.
Good Luck.
Brad - LichonAspirantRemember that RAID0 is NOT redundant! If you use both 1TB drives in the same RAID0 then only one of drives have to fail before losing ALL data.
If you use RAID0 on each drive then you a get volume per drive (C & D) and if a drive fails, then only data on that volume will be lost.
A little step by step (creates 2x RAID0 volumes):
1) Connect the new 1TB drive in a computer (not the Duo)
2) Copy all data from the Duo to the new drive (remember to verify it)
3) Factory default the Duo and in 10min window, change to Flex-RAID and pick RAID0. Wait for it to complete
4) Copy all data from the new drive back to the Duo (remember to verify it)
5) Disconnect the new 1TB drive and insert into the Duo. You may have to reboot
6) Add a volume from frontview or raidar, and pick RAID0
Once the new volume has finished have you 2TB in your Duo. Again, if a drive fails then ALL data is lost on that drive. - molisesAspiranthi in that case can i use 1tb disk and 1.5tb disk and have 2.5tb? one in c (1tb) and the otherone in D (1.5tb)....¿

Yes, you can have 2 separate RAID0 volumes. - molisesAspirantI have a RND2000 with 2 disks (1.5tb seagate anda WD 1tb disk) create a separate RAID 0 volume on each disk (1.5tb disk c: and 1tb Disk D:) but the 1tb disk was not mine so i changed it for mine 1tb Samsung.... ) but the sistem only creates the unit as c: so i cant acces the 1.5tb (wich was c: previosly).
Ive tried to leave the 1.5tb unit on it own but now when i access the disk the Folder i created (GRANDE is the name) does not give me access if i dont write the login and pass that he askess wich i never included
Can i recover this unit? i mean can i read the folder by any means?
The info on the panel says that im using 75% on the space wich is true but i can see the files
Can you help me? thanx - scotty3x3Aspirant

Slightly confused on this process but it is exactly what I need to accomplish. Say I only have ONE hard drive right now and I will be ADDING another one down the line. I have no data to start with so backing up is not necessary. I factory defaulted the Duo and chose Flex-RAID 0. It is setting this up as we speak. When I DO want to add the other drive, will it automatically be formatted to flex-RAID 0 and keep the drives separate? Also, when it does format the second drive, will all of the data on my first drive be safe? - chirpaLuminaryThe second drive will be shown as available free space. There will be an 'Add Volume' tab in the Volume page to create a volume from this new space.
Data on the first drive will not be touched with changing the volume on the second drive.
