connecting RN204 with Cyberpower UPS

I've been reading about this quite a bit already, but am confused on a couple of points.

1) I am planning to connect the UPS to the Ready NAS with a USB cable.   The software manual seems to indicate that monitoring the UPS over a USB port is not supported.  Will a USB connection work?  I'm just trying to be sure I get a clean shutdown in case of a power outage lasting more than about 10 minutes.

2) This may be obvious to most of you but I just want to be sure.  It looks like the both the UPS and the RN204 have only type A female USB connections.  Do I just connect them using a Type A male to Type A male USB cable?

Thanks!

Jim

  • A USB connection does work, that is a mistake in the manual.

But my three CyperPower UPS all need a type B plug, and the NAS of course uses type A.  What CyberPower model do you have?

  • It's a CP850PFCLCD.  I must have had a total brain meltdown.  I clearly see the type B port now, thanks.  At least your answer prompted me to look again.
