How can you be out of warranty on a v2? What was your purchase date? Are you sure it is a v2? A lot of v1 owners mistakenly think they have a v2. (http://www.rnasguide.com/2012/01/09/how ... -or-nv-v2/)

Honestly, I don't think your permissions problem is related to the drive. Though with 39 reallocated sectors, it would be smart to replace it.
