Disk upgrade and log messages meaning
Hi,
I am upgrading to redundant X-RAID with Seagate Enterprise NAS 8TB disks
I get this message:
1- Resyncing started for Volume data.
2- Volume data health changed from Degraded to Redundant.
When done, I receive a mail alaert that my volume is redundant
However, in GUI, under System/Volumes, it starts a new "Resyncing in progress..." job
The new volume space is correctly displayed, my snapshots resumed when the free space was detected...
What is this new resync vs the initial resync or rebuild?
Any technical explanation please?

2 Seagate NAS Drives of 4TB each, with a healthy state, replaced by 2 Enterprise NAS Drives of 8 TB each
When you installed the second drive, there were two resyncs needed.
The first one is to resync with the 4 TB volume.
After that there is vertical expansion to the 8 TB volume. A new 4-TB "upper" RAID-1 layer is created on both disks, and that also needs to be synced.
I suspect the vertical expansion is what you saw.

Basically: I turned off system, swapped one disk, started system, after sync is done and online, I turned it off, swapped second disk, turned it on
Current log of all these operations is below:
Wed Apr 20 2016 16:58:29 Volume: Volume data health changed from Degraded to Redundant. Wed Apr 20 2016 11:15:24 System: ReadyNASOS background service started. Wed Apr 20 2016 11:15:23 Volume: Resyncing started for Volume data. Wed Apr 20 2016 11:15:11 Volume: Volume data is Degraded. Wed Apr 20 2016 11:15:09 Volume: Volume data usage exceeds 95% of size (3.6 TB). Wed Apr 20 2016 10:49:32 System: The system is shutting down. Wed Apr 20 2016 7:00:52 Disk: Disk in channel 2 (Internal) changed state from RESYNC to ONLINE. Wed Apr 20 2016 7:00:51 Volume: Volume data health changed from Degraded to Redundant. Wed Apr 20 2016 7:00:48 Volume: Volume data is resynced. Wed Apr 20 2016 1:00:52 Volume: Volume data is Degraded. Tue Apr 19 2016 22:09:02 System: ReadyNASOS background service started. Tue Apr 19 2016 22:09:00 Volume: Resyncing started for Volume data. Tue Apr 19 2016 22:08:48 Volume: Volume data is Degraded.
Now, after disk 2 has been swapped, I waited 6 hours, the resync was done and I received the above last log:
Wed Apr 20 2016 16:58:29 Volume: Volume data health changed from Degraded to Redundant.
Nothing else in log, however, the system started the new "resyncing..." that is only shown in GUI but not in logs or by email alerts:
GUI info showing now, along the above logs:
System/Overview: Status Healthy, volume resyncing System/Volumes: resyncing in progress, status green, new free space available
So basically, disk 1 took 6h, disk 2 took 6h, and now it started a new resyncing estimated at 6h.
Why this 3rd resyncing and 6 extra hours spent + it is not shown in logs, but only in GUI?

The system is now online, adding to above entries, I only have this new log alert added:
Thu Apr 21 2016 0:40:37 Volume: Volume data is resynced.
So, the full log is:
Thu Apr 21 2016 0:40:37 Volume: Volume data is resynced
Wed Apr 20 2016 16:58:29 Volume: Volume data health changed from Degraded to Redundant. Wed Apr 20 2016 11:15:24 System: ReadyNASOS background service started. Wed Apr 20 2016 11:15:23 Volume: Resyncing started for Volume data. Wed Apr 20 2016 11:15:11 Volume: Volume data is Degraded. Tue Apr 19 2016 22:09:00 Volume: Resyncing started for Volume data. Tue Apr 19 2016 22:08:48 Volume: Volume data is Degraded. So basically, disk 1 took 6h, disk 2 took 6h, system came to redundant and a new resyncing started and took around 8h (NAS used so maybe it explains the extra 2h !)
The last resync did not show in logs, but only in GUI:
System/Overview: Status Healthy, volume resyncing
Why this 3rd resyncing and 6 to 8 extra hours spent + it is not shown in logs, but only in GUI?
