Drive Tray Screws , Case # 20304575
Does anyone have a known source for the correct drive tray screws for the NV+ ???
Just acquired a used unit without drives or screws. No dice going to the hardware store. Based on others attempts here ( http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=67481 ) it doesn't look like anybody else has been very successful either.
Based on other posts, went to NETGEAR Support. Even offered to pick them up since I'm all of about 3 miles from the corporate office in N. San Jose. Nice try. Can't provide them, your not the original owner and your out of warranty - go away and have a Great Day.
Bottom line, where can Anybody acquire the correct mounting screws ? It really, really, really shouldn't be this difficult.
Thanks.

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredWhy not ask the previous owner for the screws? The previous owner should have them.
- siignaNETGEAR Employee RetiredI'll take you up on your offer to drive over here and pick up some screws. ;) Honestly, though, I can send you some screws no problem. Send me a PM with an address and I'll ship them over. If you were serious about the coming over, though, that's fine too, shoot me your phone number and I'll get in touch with you.
- 2NutzAspirantJust want to say Thank You to siigna for taking care of my issue. He replied in about all of 2 minutes after I sent a PM. Made arrangements and I now have the illusive drive tray screws in my hands, soon to be installed in the NV+.
Hopefully NETGEAR upper management realizes how much the support team on these forums can influence future sales and the goodwill effort to supply a few screws would definitely influence the personal recommendation to go with NETGEAR or not for any major IT purchases by an individuals employer (the one with the Big bucks), let alone my own purchases.
Thanks again siigna
:D - Ed_JAspirantHi,
I don't suppose anyone has a solution to the same problem for me in the UK do they? Same situation - secondhand RNDP4000, but missing all 16 drive screws. Used normal domed screws to get teh unit up and running with a single disk, but would like to use proper screws to allow fitment of additional disks.
Any asistance would be much appreciated.
I'd offer to come pick some up, but I think the cost would be somewhat disproportionate!! - BMachAspirantQuick short term solution - use the screws that hold the case together - these screws do work
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserIf the trays have the round button, you might want to replace them anyway. You could try googling for RND4TRAY1-10000S, and see if you can find any trays with screws.
Though the nicest solution would be if one of the netgear folks could help out.
Given how often this comes up, it would be helpful if someone could post a link to replacement screws that fit - especially since the RN1xx/3xx/5xx line uses a new tray design (which doesn't use screws btw).
EDIT - there is a detailed diagram in this thread that could help if you are looking for substitutes. viewtopic.php?f=20&t=18658
Papabear also posted a link some time ago suggesting that these would work: http://discountechnology.com/Counter-Su ... gory=18627. They will ship to the UK. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredThe trays for the new devices RN1XX/RN3XX/RN5XX do require screws if installing 2.5" drives. However I don't think any 2.5" drives have been added to the compatibility list yet.
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserIt would be nice to know if the new trays worked in the old units. When I get some time I might try one and see.
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredThe new trays do not fit in the old units.
- Ed_JAspirantHi,
Thanks for the replies, didn't get notification of them and hadn't been online for a bit due to a family bereavement.
BMach - I've done just that with the four screws at the back, holding the sideplates on, for disc 1 and used normal domed screws for disc 2. Could do with complete solution for when I add disks 3 and 4 though.
StephenB - I'd also found that detailed drawing - might need to try some online hardware suppliers in the UK to see if they can help. Like you say it would be nice if the Netgear guys could help out, even if just posting a link to known replacements. Given these are user serviceable parts, they should have catered for them getting lost/damaged.
