Duo V2: Resync after every start up

Hi,

(RAIDiator 5.3.4) After enabling power timer I've noticed one disk is always resyncing after each start up. Everytime resync is competed 100%, but next day it starts again. Any ideas what can be wrong?

  • Are you using drives that are found on the Hardware Compatibility List?

Has this been happening since day one? or has this started recently?

Have you opened a support ticket?
Even if you are out of warranty, they will help you here www.readynas.com/support

  • Yes, I am using 2x Spinpoints F4 HD204UI...

Actually I have quite a history with this device :) This is already second (replaced) unit. I returned the first one due the death after enabled power timer. Now I got replacement, upgraded to RAIDiatror 5.3.4 (which should resolve previous bug) and from the beginning never switched it off. But since the device is in my living room I finally enabled power timer again and noticed this issue. I am using the same disks form the first unit. BTW tried to switch 1 an 2 disk, after what the same disk is being resynced.. I mean before this, disk 2 was recynced, after I switched them, now disk 1 (same physical disk) is being resynced. Maybe I need to remove that disk and wipe it on PC?

    No support ticket yet...

The problem moves with the disk, and in two different NAS and in different slots. An identical disk doesn't resync in the same equipment.

I am thinking you have a marginal disk drive. Do you see any i/o errors in the log? Have you looked at the smart stats, etc?

BTW, if you do hook it up on your PC you can see SMART stats with several free tools. Western Digital's Lifeguard diag will show this info for any drive, as will Acronis Drive Monitor, and several others.
  • I didn't have this problem with the first NAS, there was different problem...

I would still look for disk errors in the logs and check disk health.
  • Checking disk_smart.log (see below), don't see any errors... :/
