Enabling Jumbo Frames on NV+ V2
I cannot figure out how to enable Jumbo Frames on my NV+ V2. The faq says that it will help performance http://www.readynas.com/kb/products/nvplus_v2.
Any help would be appreciated. My hope is that I missed something easy.

- HERBIEOAspirantThere is no jumbo frames support on the NV+ v2 yet it may come in future firmware releases.
- chirpaLuminaryThe FAQ tags have to be updated, many v1 articles don't apply to the v2.
- MichaelCH619Aspirantmeh.
Thanks for the quick reply. This may mark the end of my troubled journey with this product. I just filed a case (#19684102) asking for a refund or replacement since the unit doesn't perform as advertised in its FAQ.
I already endured months of waiting for the firmware to fix the "Error 0x80070027: Disk is full" condition that prevented its use. I could have paid a lot less for the unit if I had known to wait until that error had been fixed. This situation feels like round two.
I'll report back with Support's response.
Best,
Michael. - atanas2AspirantHello Michael,
I look at the kb article "What performance can I expect with jumbo frames enabled?". This article point to a lab (http://www.readynas.com/?p=310) about optimizing the ReadyNAS performance. This lab uses ReadyNAS NV+ and do not mention v2 at all. Also both hadware and firmware manuals do not mention anything about jumbo frames ([url]http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/READYNAS%20ARM-PLATFORM%20(DUO%20V2,%20NV+%20V2)/RAIDiator%205.3%20SW%20Manual_5Sep12.pdf [/url}and http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/ ... Mar-12.pdf). I also checked few official reviews for ReadyNAS NV+ v2 and they do not mention anything about jumbo frames options. for example look at this article: http://www.cnet.com/network-storage/net ... 61085.html. - HERBIEOAspirantJumbo frames support may come in a future firmware update i would think the hardware supports it most gigabit ethernet ports do i think its a marvell ethernet port so hopefully it does.
and looking at my diagnostics.log it shows this.

Have you successfully done this on your Duo v2 with no problems after ? - janformanAspirantYes it's normal. MTU is 9000 after (can be verified by ifconfig)
Every other networking card must be set to this value and switch must support it - if not you get slower speed than without it. - StephenBGuru - Experienced User
Even if the full path supports jumbo frames, you might still see slower speeds - so you should compare throughput before and after.janforman wrote: Yes it's normal. MTU is 9000 after (can be verified by ifconfig)
