Enabling services for distinct ethernet interfaces

Hi,

I want to separate access to the NAS inside my local network.

My idea was to setup 2 different networks, either with 2 routers or using VLAN

One network will have access to smb/ftp/ssh on specific shares and the other network will only have access to DLNA and smb on one share.

Is it possible to make use of the 2 LAN adapters on the NAS to enable services on only one of the 2 interfaces ? Also, is it specifically possible to force DLNA broadcast on only one of the two LAN interfaces instead of teh two interfaces ?

Otherwise, any advise on how to achieve the setup I want ?

Would have been a great feature to make use of the dual NIC to separate traffic and services.

It has been asked for, but so far Netgear hasn't done it.  It should be in the idea exchange somewhere.

There are a couple of related use cases -

    • only allowing one NIC to access the NAS admin UI
    • dedicating one NIC for iSCSI.

Having different network shares on each NIC would be pretty hard I think.

    It's not.

LoL, thanks, short and clear at least

Would have been a great feature to make use of the dual NIC to separate traffic and services. However, it would probably be a complex setup, simpler to achieve by using 2 separate NAS devices I guess. The space and power use is doubled though.
