Factory default - data on 3TB drives cannot add 2TB drives

I ended up backing up the data to an external drive and then deleting all volumes. I removed the 3 X 3TB drives and then created a new "data" volume on the 3 X 2TB drives. Once that was created I added the 3 X 3TB drives back in and the volume expanded to include them.

u can change to flexi raid and create 3 x 2tb drives as new volume
the 3x 3tb first volume will stay meaning u have 2 volumes
no point moving data from first volume to 2nd volume

I've never done it. but is there something preventing him from destroying the single-drive volume once he has copied the data to the other volume? The GUI certianly makes it look like it should work. Then, 2 TB of the 3TB drive could be added to the 3x2TB volume either manually or by switching to XRAID once there is but one volume..
