General Protection fault (GPF) Ultra 2 hangs unresponsive
I am getting frequent general protection fault (GPF) errors on a readynas Ultra 2
which require having to press/hold reset button on front of unit to reboot. Several
people have complained about a similar problem on the forums and it seems to me
that this is a real and serious defect.
Is there a solution to the problem?
Anyone know if netgear support is actively looking into this?
Any suggestions of settings to try?
Is there a stable firmware version that does not have this problem?
The readynas is used to run the Logitech Media Server which streams music files to a
Logitech touch. About once a week it will stop responding and cannot be accessed through
the RAIDar interface. I need to press/hold reset button on front of unit to reboot.
The problem occured using RAIDiator 4.2.21 and persists after being updated to 4.2.22.

- JanneKAspirantHmm.. I should have looked at the Ethernet status in the Readynas.. it says 100Mbit on eth0, but if I switch to eth1 I get 1Gbit.
Clearly something's wrong with the primary interface. I'll see how this goes for a while, meanwhile I'll create a ticket. - stoney066AspirantAre both Interfaces supposed to be 10/100/1000? From the gui, the only setting is either auto, 100full or 100half. The docs say they are 10/100/1000 but I've yet to plug either into a gige device.

I'm in contact with the support now and they seem to acknowledge that something's wrong.
Another thing that can be seen, in my case at least, is that when a network cable is plugged into eth0, it takes exactly 10 seconds before the tx/rx light up, one of them being orange (indicating 100mbps).
On eth1 however, it takes a random time < 2 seconds to light up, and green.
So clearly a timeout is triggered when something goes haywire on eth0, and it then fallbacking to 100mbps (2 pair). - pkasTutorAny update?
- stoney066AspirantSetting to 100Mb/Full didn't help. I'm replacing my firewall in a few weeks with a gige one hopefully this fixes the problem. I'd hate to have to buy something else or run a cron job to reboot this thing weekly.

I'm In the process of getting support from Netgear on the ultra 6 device now. First they wanted to RMA my box, so now I have a brand new ultra 6 box with same problem and same symptoms... - stoney066AspirantI'm still waiting on my new switch, hopefully this week.
Also read that Transmission add-on could be causing a problem, not sure if everyone here has this add-on. I disabled it for now. - pkasTutorI do not have the Tranmssion add-on, but I am seeing the GPF problem.
Add-ons I have are:
ffmpeg, php5, readynas remote (but not enabled), readynas photos 2, and subsonic

Downgraded to 4.2.19 as that was NTGR's last recommendation which is lame as there are fixes in later versions I need but I'm at least trying to do what they ask.
