How do I setup recycler/recycle bin on a Readynas Duo?

Hi,
I have just inadvertantly deleted a file from one of my shares on my Readynas Duo, I have seen recycler/recycle bin mentioned somewhere, but don't seem to be able to find it!

Please can you advise me how to find it or how to set one up so that I don't get the same problem again! I am running RAIDiator 4.1.4 [1.00a042].

Thanks.

  • Go into Frontview > Shares > Share Listing and click on the CIFS tab. Scroll down to the Recycle Bin option:

  • Ah yes,
that's great - just a shame that I hadn't found it before! On the positive side it was only a small file that won't take me long to reconstruct.

    Many Thanks!
  • I am using Raidiator 4.1.8. I don't see a CIFS tab on Frontview > Shares > Share Listing. Just tabs for Share Listing and Add Shares (and nothing about Recycle Bin).

How do I enable the recycle bin?

And where will I find it once enabled?

When you select "share listing", you should see a list of share names, with icons next to each. The icons are labeled - for instance CIFS NFS FTP/S HTTP/S.

Assuming CIFS has been enabled as a file protocol (under services), you click on the CIFS icon right next to the share name. At that point you will get a tab view, with one tab for each file protocol + a tab for advanced. The tabs are across the top.

When the CIFS tab is selected, you scroll down a bit and you will see the recycle bin options.
  • Got it. Thanks.

I had hovered the mouse pointer over the CIFS icon, but it didn't change shape, and I didn't notice that a tool tip pops up (but not right away). Thus, I didn't think that the CIFS icon was clickable.

    Problem solved.
