How to downgrade firmware?

you can downgrade the same way you upgrade, just download the firmware update, and update through frontview.
no data is lost.
there is a limit, you can not downgrade to 4.2.15 or earlier due to partition changes

regarding your smart errors, its highly unlikely to be related to raidiator, you should check the drive(s) in question with the vendor tools (ie wd diags), its more common than people realize to get bad disks even new ones.
smart errors come from the drives themselves, raidiator simply reports what the drive tells it.
