How: to Format a hard drive taken from NasDuo

Hi I have just upgraded my 1tB hard drives to 2TB hard drives in the NasDuo. I now want to format the old hard drives to use in a pc or external hard drive caddy, but how do I do this. I have placed the drive in a USB freecom hard drive reader and the computer recognizes the reader but not the drive. So how do I format? I have tried both drives. I have put in a spare lapotp drive and it recognizes the drive straight away.

Any help appreciated.

You need to reformat it for Windows.

With Windows 7, you go into control panel and launch computer management. When you look at "disk management" you should see the disk there. Delete the partitions and reinitialize the disk. (Be very certain you are working with the correct drive!)
