If I replace my 1 TB disks w 2 TB disks, will disks defrag?

I was hoping that when the Duo encounters a new (empty) drive and starts to replicate data over to it (X-RAID), it would do so in a contiguous manner.

Nope, the volume manager will do a clone of whats on disk one.

What firmware did you last do a factory default (wipes, all data, settings, everything) on? You may be best to backup your data and do a factory default anyway to get 4k sector partition alignment.

I don't remember doing a factory default ever. That probably happened 4-5 years ago. when I purchased the DuoV1.

Do you suggest going through the disk upgrade process (switching disks), doing a backup, saving configuration, doing a factory default, restoring configuration, restore from backup?

Will saving configuration and restoring it after factory default mess up anything? That will restore my user accounts, volumes on the c drive etc. I'd like to restore configurations, if I could.

One thing to note is that you should re-install any add-ons you had installed before the factory default (if you still wish to use them) before restoring your config

Or do I depend on the logs (which ones)?

One option would be to open files randomly and check that they are fine.
