Incomplete Frontview NV+ reinstall FW didn't help

Hi Forum

My 7 year old NV+ doesn't show the Frontview anymore. Just a very incomplete page. I can't mount my shares, as I think NFS and SMB service aren't running. No access to all data.

The RAIDar shows everything, green, OK, with firmware 4.1.12.

I've reinstalled the OS. I've reinstalled the OS via USB, as described in this forum. Still no luck. The NAS boots OK, I can login with the new default credentials, but the Fronview page is unusable.

Before resetting the NAS to the factory default, I wanted to know if something can be repaired via telnet? Or if there are other options to try?

Thanks for your feedback!

You took a risk with the USB install.

Did the NAS misbehave before this started? For instance, locking up or disconnecting from the network? It sounds a bit like a full OS partition.

If so it can be corrected remotely. mdgm might be able to give advice on how.

Also, what browser are you using?
  • I know. But the NAS was dying slowly over the past weeks. First, I couldn't change ACL's for shares, it just didn't accept the "Apply". Later, I could't reboot via the admin interface, it didn't accept the "Apply". So I did a manual reboot, and the changes were accepted. One of the last changes I did was restarting the SMB and NFS services. It looks like they were disabled, but weren't enabled anymore, unfortunately. After the reboot, I can't mount anymore. And the GUI was incomplete suddenly.

Then I did the FW reinstall, and then the USB upload. Nothing helped to improve the situation. I've tried various browsers without seeing a difference. Any advice is appreciated.

A better early response would have been to delete all logs.

Though sometimes SQL databases also choke the OS partition - especially if you have ReadyDLNA running and haven't migrated its database to the data volume.

Let's wait and give mdgm a chance to engage (he should be back on line in a few hours).

Your log for ReadyDLNA filled the 2 GB OS partition. The log had grown to 1.6 GB in size.
