Inserting drives back into wrong bays OK? Firmware 4.1.15
Hello everyone sorry for being nervous and asking something that maybe is obvious. The PSU died and I quickly learned that you buy a replacement from the U.K and it’s on its way. The disks are al...

Hello again oohh god I love this forum and my NETGEAR device. It worked like a charm. My 7 year old device is like new again and everything is working like before. The PSU came from the U.K yesterday (http://www.evercase.co.uk/) and I got around to try to repair it today. No problem. The PSU went in and I started with just one disk. Sure enough I could retrieve log files and while scanning in “disk_smart_2017_03_27” I got the essential data
***** Disk SMART log for channel 1 [hdc] ***** Serial Number: WD-WCAV5E264276
***** Disk SMART log for channel 2 [hde] ***** Serial Number: WD-WMC1U3502395
***** Disk SMART log for channel 3 [hdg] ***** Serial Number: WD-WCAV5D794158
***** Disk SMART log for channel 4 [hdi] ***** Serial Number: WD-WCAV5E263207
Disks were mounted in that order and the ReadyNAS NV+ started, booted and worked perfectly again. I also took the opportunity to upgrade to RAIDiator 4.1.15.
I will keep this device for as long as possible, and probably swap out disk by disk to newer ones. Is there any need to upgrade the RAM from 256MB to 512MB?

Hello KalleJ,
What's the model number of your NAS? Do you still remember if it was XRAID?
It is very important to label the disks when you remove them from the chassis because you need to put them back to their respective bays, otherwise, RAID will be broken and will cause data loss.
Welcome to the community!

You must a v1 of course, since it is running 4.1.15.
Do you have system logs from before the failure? Someone from Netgear can give you the slot order from the information in the logs.
