Just a few questions for 312 model
I have just installed my new Readynas 312 Os 6.0.8, and I am very happy with it. :)
But I need support please :
1. why has my raid a capacity of 890GB as I have 2x 1To Raid1 ? According to netgear faq it should be approx 930-2%-2.25=910GB (snapshots = default 5 GB)
2. when I installed vpn server add-on, a new share is created with SMB, is it only to setup access rights? Management through port 14443 https does not seem to work?
3. why is port 5555 opened?
4. is there a new beta supporting share encryption with USB keys?
5. is there a proxy add-on like squid to hide my IP when browsing? On my previous readynas, I was able to do apt-get... or similar to install it (now it's Btrfs right)
Thank you.
Alex

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserI'm not sure which FAQ you are using, the overhead does vary by model, and it seems to be a bit higher with OS6. Snapshots are built into btrfs, and are handled quite differently than the older ext systems.
With my RN102, I see 2.62 TiB sizes reported for my 3 TB drives, this is about 100 GB less than the raw disk size (3 TB = ~2.73 TiB). You are getting about a 40 GB reduction, which sounds about right to me. You could attempt to sort it all out with SSH, but it's probably not worth your energy - there isn't anything you can do about it anyway. - SylphideTutorOK thanks.
I found that port 5555 is opened because of vpn server add on. But I see no apache virtual host for port 14443. Maybe I will ask Super-Poussin (addon author) directly. - super_poussinVirtuosoTo use port 14443 you must install the management console on your PC and use port 14443 in it
The management console is in the share
