Losing contact with my nv+
I have a ReadyNas NV+ that´s hooked up to my macbook pro 10.8.3 via my home wifi network. It has worked fine up to now, when my computer suddenly loses contact with the stuff on my readynas. I use it to store camera raw files, and access them via Adobe bridge. Usually I have to "awaken" the readynas via Finder before bridge finds it, but now that has stopped working too. In order for it to reappear on my computer I have to shut the nas unit down and restart it. Why?

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserIt could be a nearly-full OS partition. You can try an OS reinstall from the boot menu. You could also submit a support request to support.netgear.com
- Anders_AnderssoAspirantWoah - you lost me there! :-) I´ll show your suggestion to my brother, the computer wizard. Thanks!
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserHe will want the instructions here: http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/how ... _boot_menu Your hardware manual also has this information (sometlmes the hardware manual is more clear).
Also, the reinstall will reset your admin password back to the factory value (either password or netgear1, depending on what model NAS you have), and set the IP configuration to use DHCP.
Do you know if you have a v1 or v2? There is a guide here: http://www.rnasguide.com/2012/01/09/how ... -or-nv-v2/
For the nv+, the v1 products are silver, the v2 are dark gray. - Anders_AnderssoAspirantI tried the boot-thing last night and now when I was to save some images to my unit - gone again (or should I say still gone)!
Don´t know about you guys, but I´ve about had it with this crappy system. There´s been nothing but problems, everything from this present fault to failing discs and sudden and random system shutdowns. What the heck is going on!? - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserYou haven't given us much information to work with. We don't even know what NAS model you have (note the request for that above), or how long you had it working.
- Anders_AnderssoAspirantSorry, you´re absolutely right. The thing is that I´m not a computer wizard myself and thus don´t know much about the system. Here´s the info:
Modell: ReadyNAS NV+ [X-RAID]

Most loss of contact issues are caused by one of the following things:Anders Andersson wrote: I just updated to 4.1.10, that might have something to do with things...
(a) A failing ethernet card in the NV+
(b) A failing disk
(c) A nearly-full OS partition.
I haven't seen any clear connection with 4.1.10, though there could be one I guess. You can easily downgrade back to 4.1.8.
You'd first download the 4.1.8 image from here: http://www.readynas.com/?p=5827
Then you install it via frontview. (system->update on the left menu, then select the "local" tab. Browse to the 4.1.8 binary, and click upload and verify image.
