Lost connection to ReadyNAS Duo but RAIDar can see it
I have a ReadyNAS Duo for the last three years running fine on my home network. New desk top PC's sit on the network and both have been using, accessing and sharing files on the Duo all that time until today.
I can not connect to the DUO from my Vista machine. RAIDar can see it and gives me the IP address (which I use often to re-map the drives as we get a lot of power outages) but when I try and load front view or map the drive in windows it will not connect.
When I get windows network manager the map the whole network it shows me the Duo but will not let me connect.
My other newer '7' machine can see access and load frontview fine.
I have rebooted everything and loaded the latest verstions of RAIDar.
I have not had this issues before. Can anyone help please?

- ewokNETGEAR ExpertWhat happens when you try to connect to Frontview?
- swamp600AspirantRAIDar can find it fine but when I click on 'setup' it can not connect to the IP address and I get error messages like 'network path cannot be found'.
Any ideas?
My other PC connects fine. - swamp600AspirantTrying again today. When I try and connect to the Duo I get one PC working fine but the other says : 'Failier to....Microsoft Windows Network: The Network Path Was Not Found'.
When I go on to the Visa control panel Network Map it shows the Duo with the correct IP address etc.
I have tried direct connection on LAN not USB and the same thing will not connect, but was fine last week. Any ideas? - ewokNETGEAR ExpertOn the non-working PC, what happens if you put https://$nas_ip/admin (replace $nas_ip with the IP address of the NAS) in the location bar of your browser?
- swamp600AspirantEwok,
Thanks for sticking with this. I thought we had it there. I tried to force access to the admin page as you said and it failed but asked me to try and reset my network adaptor which I did (and had already done many times before, but this time..), and suddenly I got access and could see the NAS, but when I switched on today back to no access. Keeps telling me that MS Windows can not find a network path. But as I siad before RAIDar can see the NAS and if I as Windows network manager to map the whole network I can see the NAS on the map with the correct IP address. I have access to internet fine, to my router fine and to a networked wirless printer, so just don't get why I can not access the NAS when I could a week or so ago??
What do you think, sould I raise a trouble ticket? - ewokNETGEAR ExpertYeah, opening up a ticket with support would probably be a good idea.
- oscarwildeAspirantHi there
Did you get this resolved? I'm having a similar issue - I've logged a ticket with Netgear but they've yet to call me back.
The problem arose when I did a Firmware upgrade on my ReadyNAS Ultra RNDU2200 to v4.2.16. The firmware update appeared to be working, asked me to reboot but since then the machine is inaccessible via the network. RAIADar sees it and reports all of the status info to be fine, but cannot connect via browser at all.
I've tried a Win XP machine, a Vista one, direct cable connection but all to no avail. The NAS responds to a ping but nothing else. Even tried to telnet to ports 23, 80 and 443 but nothing doing...
Am rather worried now that all my data will be lost.
Any suggestions, please? - oscarwildeAspirantOoh, interestingly I *can* get access via FTP, so at least I know the data is all still there. Seems as if not all the services are running on the NAS for some reason.
- mash2005AspirantI am having similar problems
I connect using RAIDAR and I am able to Browse. Start to do copy to disk OK. after a period of time the connection is lost and the copy stops. Rebooting the Netgear eauipment does allow recovery. This has happened many times. I can use Frontview to see the unit. Raidair even allows "locate" to flash the disk lights.
Today the noise from the fans has become very loud.
hoping someone can help. - mikebuf_73ukAspirantI too am having this problem as of today - I can ping the device, however I cannot connect via the ReadyNAS frontview, which I do all the time and have never had any issues doing in the past. Cannot connect to IPaddress/admin either (this is the typical path I use at any rate).
I have not changed or upgraded anything at all and everything was working just fine last time I used it, which was last week.
The activity light is blinking madly, the blue power light is pulsing quickly (quicker than it usually does when acquiring network settings normally) however the disk lights are solid green and don't appear to be doing anything - thank heavens, as it contains my entire life on that device.
That said, I am slightly concerned as to the integrity of the data, to say nothing of the fact that I want to get access to the device.
I would be very grateful for any advice.
Many thanks
Mike
