Messed up Subnet mask now can't access
I've managed to change the subnet mask on my ReadyNAS duo to something odd ( not exactly sure what, maybe 255.255.255.255) & now cant access NAS.
I can connect a LAN cable between PC & NAS to view in RAIDar but it wont open in Frontview because of the different subnets. I'm connected to a Netgear 834GT Router and belive the correct subnet mask is 255.255.255.0 but dont really understand this!
How can I recover my mistake? I do have a backup of the settings but cant access NAS to load it.
Thanks

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserDid you also change the IP address or just the subnet mask? (RAIDar should tell you the IP addr...)
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredPerform an OS Re-install: http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/how_do_i_use_the_boot_menu#duo_nv_nv_x6600
- SPYUKAspirantStephenB, No, I only changed the Subnet mask and it appeared to 'hang' couldnt access after that.
MDGM, Thanks, where would that leave me regarding the files on the disks? What would I need to do to recover the situation & access my data again? - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredAn OS Re-install doesn't touch your data. After performing an OS Re-install your NAS will be configured to automatically pickup an IP address via DHCP (with default subnet mask) and the admin password will be reset to default: http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/what_is_the_frontview_default_login_and_password_after_a_factory_default
A factory default wipes all data, settings, everything. An OS re-install leaves your data intact. - SPYUKAspirantThanks, Can I then reload by backed up confiuration ?
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredIf you like, but your configuration should be pretty much intact anyway.
- SPYUKAspirantMDGM - Thanks for all your help! I can now use ReadyNAS again but one problem remains...
When I try to use Time machine to backup it says it cant connect to "NASname".local. the version of the server is not supported. I've tried the steps to connect again to no avail. Everything else is ok... - ReadySECUREApprenticeSPYUK
Did you follow the procedure for setting up time machine with the ReadyNAS?
http://www.readynas.com/?p=1097 - SPYUKAspirantYes, exactly as described - I'd be happy to start again with Time Machine if that would be easier?
- ReadySECUREApprenticeSometimes it is easier to start over with something like that when you run into a problem. It should be that simple to set up and have working. I will continue to research some things and post back to you again.
