If not already done, after downloading the logs you might want to check the following files in the zip-file:
msmtp.log
msmtp.queue.log
Don't feel bothered, if this does not help you further. Just my 2 cents. Good luck with fixing.
No file msmtp.queue.log. msmtp.log contains only the error specified in the topic. I use ssh to work with files and the system. This is more convenient than the web interface. P.S. I'm using the latest version of the ReadyNas system (6.9.3)

Try downloading the log zip file from the web ui anyway, as it will extract/create some logs on the fly. If Netgear chimes in, they will want to see the full log zip (though you don't post it here).

Download logs - this is the first thing I did. There is no msmtp.queue.log file in the archive. The file msmtp.log contains only the lines with an error: Jul 24 15:55:31 host=mail.domain.local tls=off auth=on user=admin@domain.ru from=ng@domain.ru recipients=admin@domain.ru errormsg='the server does not support authentication method LOGIN' exitcode=EX_UNAVAILABLE. The DNS settings are correct, the address mail.domain.local resolves normally.
