Hi Jenn
Thanks for the welcome!
I rebooted it this morning and it just carried on resynching the drives. Everything's working normally at the moment. It's up to 58% rebuild.
I can see the volumes and all the files are there.
I was just wondering what the error msg meant. I'm also wondering whether I ought to get a UPS too :smileyvery-happy:

Hello endure,
It is good to know you have the access to the NAS back up and running again. Once it is done resyching, please backup important data, it is highly recommended not to back up important data to just one device only.
For UPS, you might find this article informative.

Thanks again. Can I assume that the UPS makes on the Readynas dashboard will automatically shut the RN down properly in the event of a power failure?

Hello endure,
I believe when runs out of battery, it shuts off the NAS then when it's back up it will power on the NAS automatically back to its last state.

The NAS will shut down when the UPS sends it a power-critical message over USB. But the NAS will not power back up on its own - you need to start it manually.
