Nas nv+/ nas NV+ v2 usb 3tb harddisks

I've 2 NAS (NV+ and NV + v2). I 've 3 TB harddisks (One seagate barracuda 3 TB and a western digital mybook essentials 3.0). Both NAS won't recognize these harddrives on the USB port. I've also a 2 TB harddrive from medion. This one is recognized.

Question : Will the firmware update for the NAS NV+ V2, 5.3.7, solve the problem for 3 tb drives?

    NV+ can not support more than 2TB disk,
    For NV+ v2, which USB port do you connect? USB2.0 or USB3.0, pelease try to connect to USB2.0 which is the front USB port on NV+ v2, USB3.0 has compatibility problem, please see below link that is Official USB 3.0 Device HCL for NV+ V2 and Duo V2.

    I've connected to the front port of the nv2+

    i've tried seagate baracuda 3tb drive in a sharkoon device and
    i've tried wd mybook 3 tb , this is an external harddrive

    both are formated as ntfs. (i can't switch them anymore for 2 tb drives)

    Can divide the drives in 2tb partitions help?

    The problem is my old pc has only usb 1.2, with xcopy, it's very, very, very slow
    with my laptop i use robocopy (windows 7, 802.11n, usb 2.0) is also very slow.

    update:

    my 3tb wd mybook is connected to the usb 2.0 port of my router, asus rt66U.

    From my NAS NV+, it is possible to back-up to mybook via FTP.

    From my NAS NV2+ the backup still does not work (With backup options, the backup via FTP is missing)
    The remote backup via windows/NAS (timestamp) doesn't work. The test connection is a success, but when i start the backup job, i get an error:

    With backup options, the backup via FTP is missing -- In fact, in RAIDiator 5.3.7, backup options does not support FTP (server).
    As you said, i add a new backup job, the remote backup via windows/NAS (timestamp) can work, detailed as below:

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    FULL Backup started. Tue Dec 25 17:55:04 PST 2012

    Job: 11
    Protocol: cifs
    Source: [films]/vhs/dvdcvhscopy
    Destination: //10.40.1.59/My_Book/back_up_films/vhs

    `./ups-performance.jpg' -> `/job_001//back_up_films/vhs/ups-performance.jpg'
    `./abc.img' -> `/job_001//back_up_films/vhs/abc.img'

    Backup finished. Tue Dec 25 17:55:09 PST 2012

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    1) Click "Test Connection", any behavior? Connection success?
    2) "My_Book" folder is Shared Folder?

    1) Click "Test Connection", any behavior? Connection success? Yes, the testing of the connection is a success.
    2) "My_Book" folder is Shared Folder?[/quote] Via my laptop (windows 7 ) i can map a networkdrive and read and write to it. So it is a shared folder.

    Could this be a logon / password issue?

    No, because in windows got access after providing username and password. In the nas nv2 + i provided the same username password combination. I alse tried to set access to everyone in the asus rt66u. The result stays the same, test connection succeds, but the backup fails.
  • I purchased a Toshiba 3TB USB3/2 drive. It comes formated NTFS. NV+ v1 running 4.1.12 recognized but could not access or format. Used Acronis Disk Director to format 3TB FAT32. NV+ recognized and backup up files to drive via USB.

    Hi Gmhitchcock,
    NV+ v1 only support max 2TB driver.
    if you are using 3TB USB3/2 and format to NTFS, it is GPT partition, but NV+ doesn't support GPT partition, it only support MBR partition.
