Does the RND4225 chassis look the same as the RND4000? If so, you can migrate the disks.

If the firmware on the RND4225 doesn't match what is already on the disks, then the RND4225 will try to install whatever firmware that is in its flash memory.

So it is best to first install a single "scratch" disk, and then either install the firmware you had before, or install the current firmware (4.1.15 for an NV+ v1). Then you can migrate the disks by installing each disk in the corresponding slot with both ReadyNAS powered down.

A "scratch disk" is a spare disk.  It will be formated by the NAS, so it shouldn't contain anything you care about.

An RND4000 should be a diskless RND4225.  But it's important to make sure both are sparc platforms.  That's why I said to make sure the two chassis are identical (the ARM version of the RND4000 has a black chassis, not silver).

  • Hello my problem is that my rnd4425 has died (I think it is the power supply) and to pass the data from the hard drives are encrypted. With a hard disk adapter I can not. If I change the power supply of the new The old official?

      On replacing the old PSU:

First check the serial number against the range here: http://kb.netgear.com/29870/Service-Action-to-Prevent-PSU-Failures-in-ReadyNAS-NV-NV?  If your unit is in that range, contact Netgear support - they should provide a new supply for free (even if you are out of warranty).  Your contact might not be aware of the service action, so you might need to ask to talk to a supervisor.

If the service action doesn't apply, you could purchase this: http://www.evercase.co.uk/CompatibilityListReadynas.htm  There might be other sources - are you in Europe?

You can also modify a cheaper supply without too much work - let us know if you are interested in doing that.  You need a short 20-pin extension cable, and you need to make some adjustments to the normal pinout.

No, the data isn't encrypted.  But you do need tools that understand both RAID and ext file systems.  If you can boot a PC using linux (including using a "Live USB") you could use this guide: http://home.bott.ca/webserver/?p=306

I do not have much time and I understand that the fastest would be to change the PSU from Netgear RND4000-200EUS ReadyNAS ™ NV + Version 2 to my old rnd4425. Would it be possible to make the change ?.
Thank you and I am very sorry for the time I am making you lose.
        Yes, I'm in Spain.
