NIC Teaming (bonding) and switch redundancy ReadyNAS 4312
I recently aquired three of the ReadyNAS 4312 units. It is my intent to configure the units for network redundancy and I am running into a problem which seems to be on the NAS side of the equation.
The unit has four NICs which are able to be bonded into an LCAP Layer 2 team so I have done that. I have two Cisco switches, each configured with a channel-group on two ports in Active mode.
Two NIC are plugged into each switch and on Switch A the etherchannel comes up (SU) and the NICs are in the Bundled state (P). On switch B the the etherchannel comes up (SU) but the NICs are "Waiting to be aggregated" (w). There is no reason that the switch should be waiting for anything (that I know of). I am not sure about the way that the OS6 is handling the teaming of the NICs.
My goal is to provide redundancy to the device but to use only one IP, hence the split of the bundle between two switches.
Has anyone successfully pulled off a config like this or is there a published method which I have not found? The documentation I have found is pretty light on the networking stuff and I cannot find anything about using dual switches. I also looked for some good gouge on configuring Active/Standby links, but it seems that can only done with dual IPs.

Hello, from my understanding, LACP only works when all ports are on a single switch.
If you want to load balance across multiple switches, you might experiment with one of the other bonding modes such as failover or round robin, etc.

Thank you for the reply. I have been digging around and was trying to figure out that very thing about LCAP.
Looks like I might have to re-design.
Are you familiar with what would be a best-practice for using this system for iSCSI as a VMWare Store?I have only 'played' with vmware at various levels, so I am no expert and cannot speak to 'best practices'.
However, what I would do in my limited experience would be to statically assign ips to each nic and not rely on the NAS to do any redunancy, but to leverage the VMWare virtual networking to manage the bonding/redundancy/iscsi isolation virtually.
