No network link [RND4000]

I have a Readynas NV+ [RND4000v3] and i have a big problem. Inside there is all my data of my life and work.

I've seen that similar problems, but was different. So please help me or at least guide me in finding a solution.

The problem came from the blink of a thunderbolt I guess might have hit the Nas lightly.

After the lightning strike, the Nas asked me for a check and the blue light of the light blinked. Clicked on the button, Nas checked which succeeded up to 100%. Since then, Nas has written No Network Link. I tried to change the cable and swap the Router door. It always does.

I have 4 Discs.

-1 500 GB Western Digital [WD5000AAKS]

-2 500 GB Western Digital [WD5000AAKS]

-3 300 GB MAXTOR [7L300SO]

-4 320 GB MAXTOR [STM3320620AS]

Two running and two backups. I do not remember what kind of raid I used but certainly the 2nd backup of 1st and 4th backup of 3rd.

When I turn on the 1.3.4 HD NAS have fixed green light and 2 is off. The Nas writes: Bios Info: Eth link Fail.

Then start Booting ... and the light of the HD 2 lights up.

Nas writes: No Network Link C: 192 of 454 GB free -  D: 98 of 274 gb free

I bought an external HD hoping to connect it to the USB and press backup but write backup performed instead does not copy anything.

Everything seems to work well apart from the connection problem that does not allow me to retrieve the data or plan backup with the [backup] button from HD to USB. I am desperate.

Thank a lot for any help

It's unfortunate that you don't remember the RAID mode.  You might have flex-raid with two RAID-1 volumes.

If so, wou can try installing R-linux for windows on a windows PC ( http://www.r-tt.com/free_linux_recovery/ ).  Power down the NAS, and connect disk 1 to the windows PC (either using a USB adapter kit, or connecting the disk to the PC's internal SATA).  Then see if R-linux can read it.

Another option is get a new ReadyNAS (perhaps an RN214 or RN414).  Netgear support can help you mount the old NAS volume(s) so you can offload the data.  More information is here: https://kb.netgear.com/29876/ReadyNAS-Migrating-disks-from-RAIDiator-4-1-or-RAIDiator-5-3-to-ReadyNAS-OS-6

Given the age of your disks, I suggest getting new ones with a new NAS.  WDC Red or Seagate Ironwolf would be good choices
