Office2010 readynas oplocks prob (Support case 16666671)
Hello,
When I enable Oplocks on my readynas public share, I frequently get an error message when opening Office 2010 docuents. (the network is busy, try again later), when I open the file a second time is mostly opens directly.
This issue also happens on a client's network with the same configuration.
If I disable Oplocks it seems the Office 2010 work better, but then Windows Offline files won't work anymore, so that's not a solution.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks and best regards
Jan

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredDo you have this issue on RAIDiator 4.1.8 (http://www.readynas.com/RAIDiator_4_1_8_Notes)?
If so, please open a tech support case (http://www.readynas.com/support). Edit the thread title (i.e. subject of the first post in the thread) to include your case number. - paolo_airAspirantHi,
i have the same problem with 4.1.7.
I tried to update to 4.1.8 but is not possible: checksum error!!
I'm looking for a solution!!
Paolo - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredTry rebooting your NAS. Then attempt to do the firmware update.
If that doesn't work do a OS Re-install (http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/how_do_i_use_the_boot_menu) then attempt to do the firmware update. - janfrancartAspirantHello, thanks for the tip. I'm running 4.1.7, I'll try the update.
Regards and thanks
Jan - janfrancartAspirantIs there a fix in radiator 4.1.8? In the release notes I can't see anything about Oplocks
- janfrancartAspirantHello, I tried the update but unfortunately, the issue persists.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Jan - djessenAspirantI have client with the exact same problem - it started occuring after upgrading to Radiator 4.1.7.
I also noticed that Microsoft released an update yesterday for the Office 2010 File Validation component (which prescans Office files before opening them) KB2553065 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2553065 - the File Validation component had several bugs that would result in delays accessing Office files from network devices.
I haven't had a chance to try the update to see if it helps with the errors - it's very annoying to end users.
Thanks - Dale - djessenAspirantThis morning I checked with the client who did install KB2553065 - it didn't help at all. They still randomly and intermittently get the "network is busy" error messages when opening a file from the ReadyNAS using Excel 2010. When they "try again" the file will open.
Please help - Dale - IanSavApprenticeHi,
Could this problem be a case of a virus checker holding the file exclusively open too long during the Office file open operation?
Regards,
Ian. - janfrancartAspirantHi Ian,
I don't think so, cause the issue doesn't occur when you turn Oplock off.
Netgear doesn't respond to the service request...
