Hi I am also having trouble with permissions. Permissions resetting, and/or not filtering through to files within shares. I'm using a ReadyNas 312. Unless I set permissions to everyone for each access method (ftp, http, etc etc) I cannot see the files or folders when accessing the NAS on (AFP/SMB) or even ftp...this is not to mention ftps doesn't even score a 0/5. This is all the more difficult because I am not an IT specialist and it was sold to me as the answer to all my remote access needs. Hmmm. It may be just me but the system had a netgear specialist baffled for 5 hours and still got nowhere.
