Please help - Windows 7 and Offline Files
This is my first NAS drive so if you can, please help me.
I replaced my external USB drive for a readynas, it works fine but I can't get offline folders to work any more, when I select a folder on the NAS to sync I get the message "The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process."
I have seen some posts where users have changes registry keys but I can believe I have to do something as complicated as that.
Does anyone have an easy solution please

- mtmcgavock1AspirantI'm having the exact same problem with my ReadyNas Duo V2. I bought it for this purpose and can't get it to work for anything.
Did you ever find a way on how to do it?
I've tried suggested methods from other threads but had no success. - Chevynas and Memcgavock,
Have your tried to apply the net use /delete * in cmd? this will disconnect your device with the NAS. Also how many device are linked to the NAS? Try to re-boot all of them to see if you can clear the problem. - mtmcgavock1AspirantGot a bit of an update.
Been messing with the settings, and after speaking to support managed to get Offline Syncing to work, poorly, but kind of work.
Basically I disabled all the security settings, Enabled Oplock, and Enabled Auto Permissions. My laptop is now syncing some mapped drives, my desktop is syncing some of the mapped drives, flagging the same error 'The Process cannot Access the File because it is being used by another process.'
It seems to be with the NAS though, as the Desktop and Laptop won't sync the same mapped drive, but are syncing the GlobalShare, and some of the others fine. What confuses me is that there is no difference between the settings on the NAS of the Shares. They are all set the same. - Unhappy_Custom2AspirantI know its been a few months, but could you please elaborate on exactly what changes you made and how?
- mtmcgavock1AspirantI contacted Netgear support who ran through settings and couldn't seem to duplicate the problem. Even with the same settings they said they couldn't replicate the problem. It is obvious that there is a problem with the firmware somewhere as many people are reporting the same problems.
In the end I returned the device and swapped it for a D-Link Nas drive. On the same operating system (So same set up) on the Desktop and Laptop the D-Link worked straight away flawlessly.
