Please help me to restore deleted files
Hello,
Accidentally I deleted a folder from a share with important video files from my son, 7.5 GB where gone in 2 seconds :(.
The files where on a ReadyNAS Ultra 2 with firmware version: RAIDiator 4.2.22, Raid1 config.
The deleted files have the MTS extension (File Type: AVCHD Video File) and the files have a minimum size of 100MB.
I've shutdown the NAS and did not write any new file to the NAS.
Can somebody please tell me how to restore these files, they are very important for us.
Thanks in advance for any practical information that might help.
Kind regards,
Martin.

I don't have experience of your particular model but you did the right thing. Normally the data is not deleted just the references, so any Linux recovery too should - in theory - be able to recover them. I use TestDisk / Photorec and that is always good at finding the data that is there.
The important thing is not to format, not to write to and not to use other than recovery. AND recover files to a different location before putting back in NAS to re-sync
Once that's done - or whilst it's working - have a look at Symform, Crashplan or similar.
As Jean Reno(almost) says in the Big Blue : "Okay. You tell me. How much would you say a man's data is worth?" - user1978AspirantI have a backup but unfortunately it's to old.
Removed 1 disk from the NAS and connected it to a sata port in my pc.
Then I boot the pc with Bootmed, free recovery cd with TestDisk and Photorec.
TestDisk en Photorec dont support recovering MTS files.
What is the best setup and which tool can help me, I know the data is still there.
Kind regards.
