Port forwarding 443
I want to remote access the Management GUI. I put the port forwarding (443 ssl) on my router to my nas.
I cant access my NAS :( Does anyone know which ports/group of ports NAS DUO work.
My router is tp link 8968 and i can access my router on 80 and no ssl.
Is there any alternative way?

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredHave you considered using ReadyNAS Remote?
Port 443 the https port is used for Frontview. - mitumixAspirantI havent looked into ReadyNAS Remote but I dont want hassle since users are not IT orientated.
Yes i want to access dashboard? Is this same as frontview? If NO then send the link and I will get working on this.
mdgm Thanks - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredOops, v2.
Yes port 443 is used but port 80 may also be used for some things if I recall correctly.
So https://IP.Address.Of.Location/admin doesn't work? - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserAlso check to make sure your ISP doesn't block 443. http://www.canyouseeme.org/ will let you do that.
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredAlso be sure to set a strong password for the admin user and backup your data.
- mitumixAspirantHow about some one tries this on their NAS/Router Combo?
The reason why it might not be working would be the router (TP LINK 8968) blocking the packages. I can log in into the router and ping from the internet.
I will be trying to forward the ping request to the NAS to do a proof of concept.
Another option I got is to try VPN but that is something I have to work on as the router is not a VPN server. The hardships of SOHO. - StephenBGuru - Experienced Userping is a totally different service, and doesn't use a port. So don't try to forward that.
If you've forwarded port 443, then the next step is to verify that the port is really open. You do that with http://www.canyouseeme.org/
You also will need a ddns service (such as noip or dyndns). noip has a free option. That will give you the ability to assign a name to your external WAN address.
Then if the port is open, and forwarded to the NAS, and you have an external name you should be able to enter https:\\externalname\admin and launch the dashboard. - mitumixAspirantProblem solved.
Stephen B - ping idea didnt work out properly.
After much tinkering with the router settings and resetting the nas.
I think the culprit was t he default gateway of the NAS.
Next problem to solve - VPN to network and remote drive access. Fingers crossed
