RAIDar
I just received my Pro 6; drive installed, re-boot done. All working well.
I accessed my shares via RAIDar. Is there a reason why RAIDar can always connect without being asked to enter a password even after re-booting the computer, turning NAS on and off, etc? I have access to my shares without entering a pword. Any access via browser is preceded by asking for a username and password? Any RAIDar ap for the iPad yet?
Thanks!!!

- bbaraniecLuminaryRAIDar allows you to find and configure your unit/s it's not connecting to Nas itself. Your Frontview access or shares access has nothing to do with RAIDar. Your are allowed to access your shares without password because either you have enabled guest access or your user\password is already stored in OS.
If you want to access ReadyNas from iDevices look for ReadyNas Remote in AppStore and you can read more about it here: http://www.readynas.com/?p=1435 - JjnsgyAspirantBartek,
Thanks for your reply. I do indeed understand the difference between RAIDar and Frontview. I don't think I explained clearly enough the question.
When I run RAIDar, my NAS shows in the list. When I click the "browse" option on RAIDar, I see all my shares and can access the test files I stored there (without entering a password). When I click "setup", I am asked to enter the admin password. If I access the NAS via Explorer and its IP address, I am asked to enter a username and password. Even when I enter the admin password, no shares are listed (I recognize this is probably a problem with the way the shares are credentialed).
The main question is why can RAIDar access the shares without a password?
Thanks.
Jeff - JjnsgyAspirantFigured out 1 problem. Share restrictions on Frontview for HTTP/S was disabled. Still don't understand why RAIDar can access it without difficulty. Is it because it access' the NAS via CIFS? If so, then that explains it as guest access by default is activated.

Yes. When you access the share via CIFS, Windows automatically presents your Windows logon credentials to the NAS. If the "everyone" rights are set to read or read/write on the NAS, this will usually succeed and you will see your shares w/o a password. One case where it fails: if your windows logon is admin, and the password doesn't match the NAS admin password.Jjnsgy wrote: Is it because it access' the NAS via CIFS?
