RAIDer - No JVM could be found on your machine
Hi,
My machine is Windows 801 64 bit. I recently had an auto update on Java and since the update RAIDer has stopped working and gives the following error message
No JVM could be found on your machine
Please define EXE4J_JAVA_Home to point to an installed 32-bit JDK or JRE or download a JRE from www.java.com
I have downloaded a JRE, I have completely cleaned out all Java installs and reinstalled a JRE and all the components and still I get the error message. I have tried uninstalling RAIDer but that fails with the same error message.
Can someone assist, please, in overcoming this issue?
Thanks

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserTry going into Start -> All Apps -> Control panel -> System -> Advanced System Settings -> Advanced -> Environment variables (on the PC).
If EXE4J_JAVA_Home isn't there, then add it (pointing to the JRE folder). - tomg35AspirantHi
Thanks for the reply. No EXE4J_JAVA_Home isn't there. When I click on new it asks for a name and a variable, Could you advise please what goes in these boxes? I not that I have two Java folders - One in Program folders and the other in Program folders (x86). Which one is the correct folder? - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserFrom the error message, I'd say the name would be EXE4J_JAVA_Home
The value is the folder name (c:\program files\...) Use the program folders path - without the (x86) - and put double quotes around the whole thing. - fastfwdVirtuoso

But the original error message asked for a 32-bit version of the JRE. Isn't that one in the "Program Files (x86)" path? - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserThat could be what it wants.
If it fails, try substituting %programfiles% for c:\program files next. I believe Windows automatically sets that so 32 bit programs see C:\program files (86).
It that fails, just add the (86). - tomg35AspirantHi,
I've tried:
-"C:\Program Files (86)\Java\jre7\bin"
- "%Program Files%\Java\jre7\bin", and
- "C:\Program Files\Java\jre8\bin"
But am still getting the same error message - StephenBGuru - Experienced User%programfiles% has no space.
So maybe uninstall all the versions of java on the system, and delete any folders that remain. Then reinstall the current java, so it is the only version. - tomg35AspirantTried the above 3 again (removing the space from %ProgramFiles% and deleting bin to see what would happen but no difference. I did uninstall and delete all folders below, but am not sure why I have jre7 and jre8 (except that one is in the 32 bit fold and the other in the 64 bit folder).

thanks for the help guys, but i fixed the problem
i basically just searched 'java' in the start menu, found the java files in system32 and deleted them, then reinstalled a new version of java.
This was not windows 8 though. - tomg35AspirantSuccess!!
I uninstalled Java again and also ran CCleaner. I looked in System 32 (and in the C drive) for any mention of Java but all the instances that I could see were in program folders for specific applications and I thought it best to leave those in place, I again downloaded Java from www.java.com and installed it - Looking in add\remove programs I noted that it just mentions java, whereas before it specifically mentioned that the install was 64 bit (checking the Program Files folders and Java can only be found in the folder Program Files (x86)).
RAIDer now works fine.
Thanks a lot for your help and quick replies.
