Ready NAS 104 Locks Up (6.4.1)

Hello all!

At some point that I haven't nailed down, my ReadyNas104 (6.4.1) hangs completely. All front lights get stuck solid, the screen continues displaying whatever was on it at the time of the hang, and the NAS begins refusing all network access, including SMB, AFP, HTTP, Anything.

The only solution is to unplug it and plug it back in, triggering a volume resync, which usually fails and locks up again around 22% or so.

I've performed an OS Reinstall, Complete Factory Reset, and Have tried disabling bit rot, and the antivirus scanner.

The NAS is running no apps, has one user (admin), and has 2 shares, one containing disk images, the other media files.

Both shares are using SMB, AFP, and NFS.

The log files are availible here.

Any help you could give would be appreciated.

  • Thanks for the logs. Please try ReadyNASOS 6.4.2 (RC1)

There is a known RAID-5 issue you may be running into.

Looking at your logs also it looks like you still have anti-virus enabled.

Can you see if the system still locks up if anti-virus is disabled and you update to 6.4.2-RC1?

Well, The new firmware is in, and there hasn't been a lockup, so I'll assume the issue is solved.

The volume resync seems to be taking longer than normal, but at least it's making progress.
