Ready Nas Adding a new disk

I have 3 disks already installed and just want to confirm that if I add a 4th disk, the system will detect it and add it to the remaining disks or will i have to 'do' something to kickstart the proce...

I'm not sure if I'm using XRAID or not - how do I determine this?

If you aren't sure, then you probably are.

 

The way to tell is to look on the volumes tab of the web ui. There's a control on the right labeled X-RAID.  If the control has a green stripe through it, then X-RAID is on.

    Just checked and yes it is XRaid

     

    I'll update this when I add the new drive tomorrow

      It should start resyncing, and the volume status will change to "degraded" until that is finished.
