ready nas duo v2 installation time
I needed to install a new drive in my readynas due to the disaster of losing both of my drives with all of my data on it. so, I recovered the data ($$$$) and have it on an external drive ready to install onto my brand new 1 tb drive loaded in my readynas. I loaded the drive into bay 1, bay 2 I left empty and it started installing right away (yes!). however, it never stopped installing and after 60 hours or so I'm not feeling so positive about this working out.
I've opened up a case with support but I haven't heard back on this problem since Wednesday. Can you help me out? Thanks!

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredTry a factory default (note this will wipe all data, settings, everything): http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/how_do_i_use_the_boot_menu
- alanmusicAspirantit's still running. how should I stop it?
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredJust turn the NAS off however you can. You may need to disconnect the power if it has hung badly.
- alanmusicAspirantI can't get to the boot menu. All I get after power up with the reset button depressed, the power rapidly blinks while both disks flash on together than go off. This happens twice. Then the #2 disk stays on while the power continues blinking. Does anyone know what this means and how do I get to the boot menu? Thanks!
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredCan you confirm if this is a Duo v1 or a Duo v2?: How to tell whether I have a Duo v1 or Duo v2 or NV+ v1 or NV+ v2
- ihartleyTutorRegardless of "manufacture process", "batch defects", quantum entanglement or anything else, it is a COMPLETE JOKE (well not a joke) that I keep seeing "both drives failed at the same time". This just does not happen. So what IS happening??
The raison d'etre of these units is to protect data from single disk failure - you have to be the unluckiest person alive to have 2 drives go together. Sure - if you have 10,000 drives expect a few to go together, but not when you have TWO. If the manufacturing tolerances were that good for both drives to fail together, they'd be good enough for both drives to work.....
So, please, someone tell me and the OP - WTF is going on?? - alanmusicAspirantyep, it is Duo v1

Then the instructions for a factory reset are on page 16 here: http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/ ... 6Dec11.pdfalanmusic wrote: yep, it is Duo v1 To perform an OS reinstall or factory reset:
1. Power off your system.
2. Using a straightened paper clip, press and hold the Reset button.
3. Press and release the Power button to power on the system.
4. To perform an OS reinstall, continue to hold the Reset button until all Disk LEDs flash once,
after about 5 seconds, and then release the button.
To perform a factory reset, continue to hold the Reset button until all Disk LEDs flash
twice (once at 5 seconds and then 25 seconds later), and then release the button.
There is a description of the LED patterns here: http://home.bott.ca/webserver/?p=324 Yours doesn't seem to fit though. - alanmusicAspirantThanks, Stephen. How long does the reset take? And what should I look for when it's complete?
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserI don't recall the total time. It runs a 5 minute disk test first, then there is a 10 minute window (if you don't want the default XRAID, you can select flexraid during that time). Then it formats the data partition. So 15 minutes is the minimum.
You should be able to see progress via the RAIDar app though.
