Ready Nas update Fail and storage

Hello everyone..!!!

I already have my Nas 3 year nows..I am using it on my job as surveyor enginier and i today i had a problemme...!!! After a reboot it says to me a message that it couldnt mount flash memory..!!!

I already had all my documents inside from my job at raid 1.0...!!! i did the USB recovery tool thing but nothing happends..!!!

My first question is there anything that i can do to make it work again??

If i reset the NaS software it will understand that my HD are at raid 1.0 ?? Or it will erase all my folders?? Is there any way to take a backup now??

I dont know what else to do..!!! the worst think is that i have all my jobs in there and i cant work without it..!!!

  • O.K. You had 6.1.4 on this unit and tried to use 6.1.5 to fix it using USB Boot Recovery.

I had a look at the system remotely and manually updated it to 6.5.2 and it came up fine. Also then updated it from 6.5.2 to 6.6.0 without any problems.

The flash memory issue points towards a hardware failure in the chassis.

The warranty on the RN104 is three years, so check the purchase date - you might still be covered by the warranty.

Support might have some other way of reloading the flash, so you might want to contact them.  There is a USB recovery procedure, but I'd wait for a Netgear response before trying it.

As far as your data goes - if the disks are ok (no reason to think they aren't) the disks can be placed in another OS 6 NAS, and the data should be intact.

Your product registration doesn't include the serial number but the purchase date is over 3 years ago.

When you did USB Boot Recovery did the system power off when done?

Seeing the unit is out if warranty and you need it for your work you probably should purchase a new unit (e.g. RN214) and then perhaps looking into seeing if anything can be done for the old one.

Yea after the Usb recovery it shutt down..but when i turn it on after it tells me the same message..!!!

how i can use my data now from the HD if i cant take a new one soon??

is there any chance to reset it back to factory settings and work??in that case what will happend with my data??it will recognise the raid 1.0 from the HDD or it will format them to make a new one???

if i conect the HDDs to a pc could i take a bck up from my data or the raid puts them that way tha i will not be able to read them..??

thank you for your fast response

        I've sent you a PM.

A factory reset won't fix this. A factory reset wipes all data, settings, everything. It doesn't fix a problem with the flash.
