Readynas 102 not at my network internet connexion speed
Hello !
I have a small network performance issue with my readynas :
* Although my internet connexion speed is 400Mb/s (France, Numericable), my downloads can't seem to go past 10-11 MBytes/sec
* At the same time, with my laptop running ubuntu, I download the same file at up to 43MBytes/sec which is about the max possible with my internet speed :D
Sure, 11MB/s is good, but I wouldn't expect my NAS to be 4 times slower than my PC for downloads :)
Here is the command used on both devices for the download :
More info :
- The RN102 is plugged (RJ45) directly to my ISP router (it's an all purpose box)
- The laptop is also plugged to the router, the same way
- The RN102 admin page indicates 1Gb/s bandwidth
- I ignored the HDD speed by downloading to dev/null
Any idea what could cause this huge difference between the two ?
Thank you in advance,
Salim

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredOdd. Those speeds would seem to suggest 100Mbit. What speed do you get for file transfers between your NAS and a PC connect via ethernet to your router?
- simaniAspirantWith one of my NAS shares mounted in my computer via cifs on /media/nas/Video, i copied a video file (2.8GB) to my pc desktop (cp /media/nas/Video/myvid.mkv /home/salim/Bureau/) in 55 seconds
Roughly, whitout considering the 1MB = 1024KB :) I get a speed of around 50MB/s - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredWhat speeds do you get if you download to somewhere on your data volume using wget? The hard disk speed should not be the bottleneck
- simaniAspirant9.5MB/sec approximately
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredCan you open another SSH window and run top and see what that is like while you are downloading a file using wget?

http://hpics.li/ce84380 - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredWhy do you need to run two torrent apps? On the 100 series you should try to avoid running an excessive number of services. Furthermore the torrent apps may be using the Internet.
If you disable the anti-virus service does that make any difference? - simaniAspirantThank you for your help :)
Per your advice, I have uninstalled qbittorrent client
I have tried deactivating Antivirus service, DL speed is still low.
Meanwhile, I still get 40MBytes/sec on the PC, but no more than 7,5MBytes/sec on NAS (lower than this morning !) - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredDo you have new top output?
