ReadyNAS 102 Squeezebox Touch connection issue
Hi all, new here so please be nice :D
Ok so I've bought myself a Squuezebox Touch and a ReadyNAS 102 in which I installed 2 WD RED 3TB disks.
The goal is to be able to stream all my music files from the RN102 through the Squeezebox Touch.
I share a wireless connection with the neighbours, to which my Squeezebox and laptop both connect.
I installed LMS 7.7.3 on the RN102 using the GUI, launched it and it scanned all my music files I had transferred to the 102.
So now I have connected my RN102 to my Squeezebox with an ethernet cable and I want to acces my music on the RN102, but how do I do that?
I tried Settings>advanced>networking>connect to ethernet, first it wouldn't connect, then I tried connecting manually by inputting the IP adress of the RN102.
So now my squeezebox does see the NAS, but when I now go to "my music" in the main menu on the SB, it prompts me to "switch to a different library, which will stop playback" but when I try to do so, it still isn't able to connect to the NAS. :?
I was under the impression that the RN102 was compatible with the SBT, am I missing something? Have I overlooked something? I would imagine I would still need to provide my admin login information to acces the NAS through the SBT?
Are there people out there who succesfully connected their SBT with their RN102? Any info or direction would be tremendously helpful, thank you. :D
Thanks a bunch in advance and kindest regards,

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredYou could configure some routers to act like a wifi range extender/gigabit switch, I think.
- vandermerweMasterI have asked you this before, but are you absolutely certain that when you enter the ethernet setup on the squeezebox, that you are selecting a static setting and entering the IP address that you want the squeezebox to use on YOUR LAN, not your neighbour's?
The other thing you can try is to setup a static wifi IP address for the squeezebox that is the same as your ethernet IP address ( the squeezebox IP address). - LaszloFolgertsAspirantHi, sorry for replying so late, I was trying some things out.
Just to be clear: I share the wifi with the neighbours, not the LAN. I can only connect with the neighbours router via wifi, not via ethernet.
So I got myself a wireless repeater/LAN switch with DHCP server functionality so I could connect the SB with the NAS through the repeater/switch via ethernet as well as being able to connect the SB to the neighbours wifi through the repeater via ethernet as well, thus not having to switch between wifi and ethernet on the SB constantly. At least, that was the idea...
This kinda worked sometimes but the SB would often lose connection with either the NAS or Mysqueezebox.com, saying it wasn't able to resolve a proper IP adress for the squeezebox or couldn't find a DHCP server.
I now have the repeater solely set up as a DHCP server and the SB has as of yet not lost it's connection with the NAS, when connected through LAN. But when I now want to connect to Mysqueezebox.com through my neighbours wifi I have to switch network in the SB manually by going through some menus which is doable, but not very convenient.
I was thinking about your advice about giving my SB a static IP address...
When I manually have to fill in the IP address, it also asks for subnet mask, gateway IP and DNS address but it fills these in automatically after I have entered an IP address first. Should I just leave them as they are or instead copy these from the neighbour's router?
Also, when I give my SB a static IP address, is it then wise that I give my NAS a static IP address as well?
Thanks in advance,
Laszlo - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserIf you do want to assign any static addresses, of course you need to coordinate with your neighbors. If their router supports address reservation that is a better way to go.
If the issue is that the wifi connection to the neighbors isn't stable, then (as I posted on the other thread) the best solution might be to install your own router between the extender and your equipment. Then your local network will be stable, though your internet service might not be.
