ReadyNAS 102 USB Printer setup
Hi There,
Can anyone help me setup my usb printer on my ReadyNAS 102? I can not seem to find how to do this .
It is a Brother HL-5040 and is on the list of compatible printers.

- chirpaLuminaryDid recent firmware add printer support?
While OS4 supported them for years, OS6 did not have support for printers among other things previous versions did.
Last I saw OS6 did not support printers (viewtopic.php?f=51&t=70133&p=411706&hilit=os6+printer#p411706). - chirpaLuminaryAs I suspected, not looking good. None of the release notes list support for printers on OS6. http://downloadcenter.netgear.com/en/product/RN10200
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredI think there might be a 3rd party app for this coming.
- hanu0001AspirantThanks Guys - looks like your right!
hopefully there will be an app for this at least soon - 6rilAspirantI'm too trying to connect my printer to my readynas 104 ... doesn't seem to be possible : /- not even a clear answer on the web..
This is a shame, again ! a basic feature for a nas, not there on netgear product...
is there any workaround? apps? - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserIt is not available out-of-the-box, though it might be possible to manually install a package.
Though some people want printer support, the low cost of home network printers has made this feature less interesting. Personally I use a network printer with wifi (so I can put it anywhere, and have no issues with the server being on/off). - theluke79AspirantHello,
it took me a hell of a job, but YES you can get a printer shared on readynas RN102.
I got the EPSON SX400 running
1) install cups
2) install the printer drivers for your PRN
3) optional install google cloudprint (from step 13 http://phpbb.openmediavault.org/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2388)
It took a lot of effort, but it works- weng0116Aspirant
I dont think this works with EPSON SX400 since there is no driver printer for Linux.
- peterkinGuideOne reason why I'm hanging on to my DUO V1.
- ds256AspirantAs a RN104 owner it would be nice to see USB printer sharing. Someone above mentioned installing cups, but how is that possible? I looked through the list of available apps but didn't see anything about printing. I saw an app that allowed low level USB port sharing but that trial expires after 10 days and it only lets 1 person access the USB port... So that's not what i need.
- theluke79AspirantYou need to get CUPS using apt-get install cupsd, than configure CUPS following the various guides online.
Very important to get the exact driver for your printer otherwise CUPS will not print correctly
