ReadyNAS 104 Disk Failure
Hi All, today I got a dreaded email from my ReadyNAS 104. Disk failure. Unable to look into it unitl I got home. I decided to bite the bullet and buy 2x10TB Iron Wolf's from Seagate. I've been meaning to upgrade from my 4x4TB setup in X-Raid.
Getting home I could hear the disk or disks failing. I could not login to the Admin page either via browser or RAIDar. I had to force shutdown.
Upon reboot, I got ERR: No Disks Detected! I had to force shutdown again. I removed Disk 1 and booted. It booted up okay. Checked logs and they are below.
I swapped out disk one with the new 10TB and booted. Same issue, ERR: No Disks Detected! I've now removed the 10TB from bay 1 and booted. Same ERR
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Further to this, I was able to boot to it without the Bay 1 disk. Faulty 4TB or 10TB and run RAIDar diagnostics. This is the log

I've tried more swapping out and booting and rebooting and still no luck with anything. The three volumes in 2,3,4 are showing as inactive and I am quickly begining to fear the worst. Additional logs below.

That is the thing, I wasn't even home. This all just happened. And now it looks like I have lost everything. My theory is the array is just broken. Can this be rebuilt at all?
Support have offered the Data Recovery at a cost of about $275AUD. Would that do it?
It is a lot of money and I don't want to just throw it away...

Unfortunately there are no guarantees on data recovery (one reason why I always recommend at least one backup to a different device). But at this point if you want your data back, you will need to use some form of data recovery.
Another option is to try ReclaiMe - a data recovery package that some users have used successfully. That will require you to connect your hard drives to a windows PC (either with SATA or USB). ReclaiMe is also expensive, but it will give you some idea of what it can recover before you pay for it.

Update...
Data recovery people I took my unit & 4x4TB too has responded stating the drivers are actually in tact and no physical issues or damage has been reported. Leading me to the conclusion it is the NAS unit itself that has caused the issue. With my warranty expiring at the end of August. I will be seeking a warranty claim with them. Any further advice on this is greatly appreciated.

Netgear's remote access to restore data would have failed due to the erratic unmount/mount of drives. The third party data recovery experts I took the drives too have virtually rebuilt the array and it is all in tact. They are recovering data to a 10TB I have supplied.
I have contacted support with my warranty concerns, yet I have not received a reply.
If anyone has had experience with this, please let me know. Or this topic can most likely be closed. Thanks.
