readynas 104 user login fails
readynas 104 firmware 5.4.1
Users cannot login on local network, admin login works fine. Using Chrome browser, Tried firefox and explorer with same results. Created new group and added users to that group. Still can't login with user name and password. Admin login works. After typing IP address of nas (192.168.2.92) into browser, login box pops up, I enter a user name and password, login box disappears momentarily and then pops up again with user and pasword entries empty, and I am not loged into the nas.
Thanks
Users normally access the NAS using windows file sharing (\\ipaddress or \\ipaddress\sharename in file explorer, or by adding a network place, shortcut, or creating a mapped drive).
You can set up the NAS with a user account for each user that matches their windows log-on and windows password. Or you can use different accounts, and store the NAS credentials in the Windows credential manager for that user.
Each user will have one private share, and of course they can create any folders they want in it.
If you want to create a more complex setup there is some more info here: http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/29838/~/readynas-share-and-permission-faq

http://192.168.2.92 redirects to the admin ui ( https://192.168.2.92/admin ). That will only accept the admin log on.
Are you trying to access a share with http? Or are you trying to do something else?

First let me thank you for your quick response. I really apreciate the help.
I understand now that entering the IP from a browser only goes to the admin login. I am trying to let users login to my NAS from different computers on my local network, but I only want them to have access to the folders I have given permission to under their user name, and allow them to create their own private folders. How can a particular user login to the nas with the user name and password that I setup their account with. I want to let users login with a browser (chrome, firefox, iexplorer etc.). Is there some other that users can login and be restricted to only their account or group?
Thanks again!
