ReadyNas 202 - Connection cannot be established. Check the connection and authentication

Since the last four firmware updates my backups from a ftp server to the nas are failing after a while with Connection cannot be established. Check the connection and authentication serial number of my nas:45Y2545500149 using firmware 6.8.0. The ftp server is fine I can connect to it via ws_ftp pro using same log in details as saved in the nas backup. I can access the ftp server shares etc. I've changed the leads no change, I did a factory restore and no difference.

If I run the backup again manually sometimes it will complete and others not making the backups hit a miss.

What is going wrong ? What can I do to fix this ? seems this has been a issue with some for several years.

    Hello philsbbs,

Is this local backup or over the Internet? Also, are you using the built-in Backup Job of ReadyNAS or a third party backup software?

Please post some screenshots of errors and settings.

    Regards,

      Morning Jenn,

Is this local backup or over the Internet?

      * It's a local backup and the nas is connected direct to the netgear switch, the ftp server is also plugged into the same netgear switch.

Also, are you using the built-in Backup Job of ReadyNAS or a third party backup software?

      * I'm using the built in backup software in 6.8, also when the backup fails the Test Connection link still works.

      Thanks for your help.

      Have a good weekend.

      Phil

        Hello philsbbs,

Are you using WAN/Internet IP address to point to the FTP server? If so, can you try using the LAN IP of the FTP server instead and see if there's any difference.

        Regards,

The backup job that failed has completed from a manual start.

See what I mean its hit and miss if backup completes.

        Morning All,

If I cannot find a solution shortly I will have no choice but to decommision the nas and purchase a synolgy or qnap solution.

        So any ideas most welcomed.
