ReadyNAS 204 shows "No IP Address"
The unit shows "no IP Adress" even though the ethernet port shows activity and the router show connection.. When I initially tried to shut the unit down it said that it was shutting down and "Goodbye" but did not shut down. It looked like it displayed an instruction something like exit800. I pulled the plug and rebooted. Still no IP address. I used the boot option to reload the firmware; which it did but still shows no IP address. Any suggestions on where to go from here? The unit will still not shut down properly.

If you ping the RN204 IP address shown by your router, do you get a response?
Also, does RAIDar find the NAS, and if so, what IP address does it show?

Hello Tom2B,
You can also try unplugging and replugging the LAN cable or use the other NIC as part of the troubleshooting.

Neither ReadyCloud or RAIDar can see it. The router network map doesn't show the 204 as a connected device even though it and the 204 show an active ethernet connection. I guess that the 204 did not request an address or the request never was sent.

Hi Tom2B,
Was your ReadyNAS configured with a Static IP address before? or was it DHCP? Are you okay with removing the drives (mark or label all of them) from your system to check if the chassis is okay?
Looking forward to your response.
Kind regards,

Hello BrianL,
The IP address was assigned through DHCP. I can remove the drives and can label. If I shut the NAS down before removing the drives, is there something that I should do when I power it back up?

Hi Tom2B,
Nothing else. If the unit boots up, acquires an IP address from your network and shows up in the RAIDar utility, then chassis is okay (you can try the other ethernet port too). But if not, more likely its a hardware fault.
Kind regards,
